Our Story

Where Men's Salon meets classic Barbershop — one legendary address.

The Barbershop Lounge originated in 2008 to specifically service those who seek a more modern approach to men's grooming. The brand was created to form an establishment that united both a Men's Salon and Barbershop under one roof.

We firmly believe that looking your absolute best is a must when representing yourself in Boston. With that said, we conveniently opened our doors at 245 Newbury Street in order to service local residents, the financial district, Cambridge's biotech world, fashion forward Newbury Street members, Back Bay's elite hotel guests, and also our iconic surrounding universities.

The craft of barbering and grooming is always on display within our workplace. Our team packs over 100 years of experience between us. For this reason, we respect each service whole heartedly. Our clients truly appreciate our attention to detail and our approach to men's grooming.

2007

The Domain is Registered

barbershoplounge.com is secured — the vision for Boston's premier men's grooming destination takes its first digital step.

2008

Doors Open on Newbury Street

The Barbershop Lounge launches at 245 Newbury Street as Boston's only combined Men's Salon and Barbershop. Founding members Rosa and Valeria join from day one.

2012

Team Expands

Kristin joins the team as a master barber and cosmetologist, bringing dual licensing and a loyal client following to the lounge.

2016

Dan Dumenigo Takes Ownership

Dan purchases the Barbershop Lounge with a clear vision — to transform the brand into Boston's top men's salon and barbershop. A new chapter begins.

2023–2024

New Generation Joins

Darrin, Juan, Zak, Dougie, and Joey join the team — bringing fresh talent and diverse expertise while honoring the lounge's 15+ year tradition of excellence.

Today

Boston's Premier Grooming Destination

10 master barbers and stylists. 100+ years combined experience. The only dual-licensed Men's Salon and Barbershop on Newbury Street. Still going strong.
